I almost made the same mistake as the majority of unpublished authors....then
I stumbled on the big secret and I got the book deal I deserved.

At seventeen years old my school finally did something that they probably
should have done ten years beforehand, they made me sit a test for dyslexia.
About three years earlier I received some words of "wisdom" from my English
teacher after I handed in my third piece of homework on the trot with the
name of one of the key characters in the book we were studying completely
wrong. To be fair, if there had been a vote at the end of school for "person
least likely to have a book published" I would have won the award hands
down.

The reason I tell you this story, is that if I can write a book and
have someone pay me to publish it - you can too. You simply need to go
about it in the right way.

Book Cover I'd tried to get a book published before. I loved history
and I had written a short biography on Elizabeth I that I thought would
be fantastic for young teenagers. Unfortunately, the publishers didn't
agree with my assessment. Rejection letter after rejection letter
mounted up and finally I did what most people do, I gave up.

A few years progressed and then I was given some news that shocked me
to the core. A doctor sat me down and said the words that actually
changed my life. "Neil, if we do nothing you'll be dead in five years."
I'd always had a problem with my weight, but now I had developed a food
addicition and my weight was now 43 stone ( 603 pounds), I needed a
helping hand to shift the pounds and so entered hospital for a gastric
bypass operation.

I was frightened, I'm not ashamed to say it. I asked myself "would I
die during surgery?" So when I went into hospital for the operation, I
vowed something to myself. When I came back home, I would write my
story. I knew it would appeal to a lot of people who also suffer with
problems with their weight. I also vowed something else to myself,
something more important - I vowed this time I would get my book
published.

I would have made the same mistake as I made the first time I tried to
get a book published. But I was lucky, in hospital I stumbled upon a
short article hidden away in an old magazine on the ward. That article
contained the secret every unpublished author needs to know. After
developing the secret a little by putting my own twist on it, I
unleashed my masterplan. Within two weeks my telephone had rung twelve
times! As you can see, the fruits of my labours are now available on
